Our Problem

As we all know, nowadays, we have free access to watch TV shows or social media posts about violations, including traumatic events. It is a strange phenomenon for me that many people are enjoying those shows/posts, and many people are providing those news to be consumed not only by the adults but also the teenagers and all, and the children have the free access to watch those violent posts whenever they want, and their parents allow them to watch those, and SEVEN BILLIONS people in the world don’t seem to care about it and thought that it is okay and nothing bad will happen in the future.

But excuse me, those media news/posts of traumatic events traumatised me anyhow and at some point it hits the fear button in my head. Well, my father made the right call forbid me to watch those kinds of things back then when I was a child and I thanked him for that.

I am not qualified talking about psychology or somewhat, but I just wanted to show you how terrible this topic could bring in the future. As written in Association for Psychological Science about Repeated Exposure to Media Images of Traumatic Events May Be Harmful to Mental and Physical Health that it really is not okay to have a free access to those images of traumatic events. According to The Psychological Effects of Violent Media on Children, children playing violent video games can cause later aggressive behavioral problems. In retrospect studies have also shown a twelve percent increase in aggressive behavior after watching violent television as well. And also The American Psychological Association says there are three major effects of watching violence in the media (i.e.: video games/television) children may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others, children may be more fearful of the world around them, and children may be more likely to behave in aggressive or hurtful ways toward others.

Are you kidding? Will this world become a better place for living in the next 20 years to come? Can you imagine how awful and how terrible our world could be if the next generations of us become less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others and be more likely to behave in aggressive or hurtful ways toward others? Is this really the world you’re planning to live in for your elder time?

I don’t want to judge the young parents who allow their children to do anything as they like without thinking the consequences to their growth and development, their psychology, their mentality and the future. I don’t want to criticise how they raise and educate our next generations that built the anti-social character, chose to show off their mobile phones in the school, instead of their ranks or trophies, and still thinking that it is okay. I don’t want to blame the young parents who let their children free from the parental guidance. I don’t want to tell them what’s best for their children and how to educate their children, because hey I haven’t even married yet, I don’t feel what they feel.

I don’t have any suggestions for all of us to at least minimise the effects in the future. This is all that I could, writing it in the blog and hoping that someone with “the power” will spread the news and open a discussion that coming up with solutions of how big the problems that we’re dealing with right now and in the future. This one is freaking me out, guys. Don’t you?
